The 2017 Lusseau is gorgeous. Supple, pliant and inviting, the 2017 possesses lovely depth and texture. Soft curves, plush fruit and silky tannins add to this mid-weight Saint-Émilion's considerable appeal. Two thousand seventeen is an especially strong vintage for Laurent Lusseau, who is the cellarmaster for all of Gerard Perse's estates. That should at least be some consolation, considering frost took with it 50% of the production.

The 2017 Lusseau, the property of Pavie technical director Laurent Lusseau, has a “plump” bouquet with cranberry and pomegranate fruit, simple but nicely focused. The palate is medium-bodied with hard tannin, firm in the mouth with a conservative, rather blunt finish at the moment.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Lusseau gives expressive cassis, wild blueberries and violets with touches of chocolate box and menthol. The palate is medium-bodied and elegant, offering great vibrancy with soft, rounded tannins and a refreshing finish.

This is the home estate of Laurent Lusseau, winemaker at Pavie. It's an attractive wine, although a little short on the finish. It shows a good weight of bright red fruits and attractive succulence. For early drinking. 50% new oak.

Attractive fruit flavors and fine acidity are balanced by ripe tannins from this small property. It has a smoky backdrop of fine tannins which sit easily with the ripe fruit. Drink this wine from 2022.
