The 2014 Larrivaux is gorgeous. Crème de cassis, violets, cedar and new leather open up in a supple, juicy wine that will drink nicely upon release. The floral, refreshing finish is quite appealing.

The Château Larrivaux 2014 is a blend of 72% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot picked October 7-15. It has a laid-back bouquet, gently unfolding with brambly black fruit mixed with bay leaf and attired with a light marine influence. The palate is medium-bodied with a juicy, punter-pleasing opening, slightly rough tannin at the moment, yet with decent fruit and a dash of spice on the finish. It's your straight-down-the-line, classic, cedar-tinged Claret. Tasted four times with consistent notes, this is a fine Haut-Médoc from Mrs. Tesseron.

Dark crimson. Briary, interesting nose. Very sweet start and really rather luscious. Punching above its weight with admirable fruit concentration and quite a bit of tannin.

Supple, round and well made wine with ripe plum, cherry and fresh herbs. This wine made from 60% Merlot is less than 10 euros a bottle - a great value wine in this vintage.
