Tasted at Bordeaux Index annual 10-year on tasting from an ex-château bottle. The La Fleur-Petrus 2004 has a sumptuous and caressing bouquet that unfolds beautifully in the glass: macerated red cherries, hints of dark chocolate and garrigues (fennel and broom.) There is not the vigour of a great vintage, but it is nicely understated. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth, quite silky entry. The secondary notes are surfacing nicely here with fresh black truffles and white pepper lining the finish. This is a composed La Fleur-Petrus that should drink well over the next decade, although it does not quite achieve the promise it showed from bottle. Tasted March 2014.

Full red. Slightly medicinal aromas of redcurrant, plum, chocolate and herbs, along with a peppery nuance. Supple in texture but a bit subdued, with restrained sweetness and notes of herbs and minerals. I find this in an awkward stage today, and a tad dry and green on the back, but there's firm spine and sneaky flavor intensity here. 87 (+?)

Very attractive chocolate, black olive, berries and even tobacco on the nose. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins, a refined texture and a long, caressing finish. All here. Best after 2012. 3,500 cases made.

The 2004 La Fleur-Petrus possesses soft notes of licorice, sweet and sour cherries, dried herbs, sweet tannin, and a medium-bodied, elegant style with good purity and overall balance. It should drink nicely for 12-15 years.

Very ripe aromas with plums, almost prune aromas and hints of coffee. Full-bodied and very silky, with loads of structure and ripe fruit. Il love the lengt on this.
