Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Fayat has a nose that opens with a lifted cherry/medicinal note over a core of baked plums and fungi plus a waft of cedar. The medium-bodied palate has a rather odd fungal character with rustic tannins and an unpleasant finish. Drinking Window : 2020 - 2027

The 2017 Fayat is plump, juicy and delicious. Sweet red cherry, red plum, mint, blood orange and cinnamon, along with soft contours, give the 2017 its racy, opulent personality. I would prefer to drink this unctuous yet mid-weight Pomerol over the next few years.

Juicy and open in feel, with lots of ripe and succulent plum, blackberry and black cherry fruit flavors bursting forth, backed by licorice snap and fruitcake notes. The long finish lets the fruit keep pumping along. Rock-solid. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2022 through 2038. 703 cases made. — JM

Aromas of crushed blueberries, tar and mint follow through to a full body with a solid core of fruit and a long, flavorful finish. Shows depth and intensity. Better after 2021.

Fruits rouges, réducteur, bonne structure mais forte réduction, léger, frais, assez gourmand.

The 2017 Fayat is deep, fleshy and unctuous. Dark stone fruit, smoke, licorice, cloves and leather all run through this decidedly creamy, voluptuous wine. Expressive floral notes add a measure of brightness, but Fayat is Pomerol that speaks to flamboyance more than anything else. Tasted two times.

Wet earth, olives, herbs, thyme and cherry notes open the wine, medium bodied and on the bright, fresh side, there is an energetic red berry character to the finish. The wine was produced from 100% Merlot this year due to damage from the frost and product

The 2017 Fayat has a clean and fresh bouquet with lifted floral tones with a light pastille like tincture. The palate is well balanced with a crisp line of acidity, a little pinched in style with a brisk, brine-tinged finish. Fine, but I would have liked more substance as it attenuates towards the finish.

Medium to deep garnet colored, the 2017 Fayat has quite an earthy nose with notes of damp soil and fungi over a core of crushed blackberries and red currants with a waft of truffles. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, grippy tannins and a lively line of freshness, finishing with an herbal lift.

A trail of damson and black cherry fruits lead you across the palate here. There are lovely hints of menthol freshness, although the oak influence is a little too overpowering at the close of play.

This offers up some nice citrus and berry character, but it lacks some concentration and definition and finishes a little herbal. Green olives come to mind.

Lovely raspberry and cherry preserve flavors glide through, with finely beaded acidity letting them play out on the silky, spice-tinged finish.—J.M.
