This is really structured with chalk, dark-chocolate, berry and walnut character. Full-bodied, tight and focused. Long finish. Serious wine that’s very mineral. Better in 2020 but on it already.

This delivers a rather ripe beam of blackberry, açai berry and fig fruit, supported by a graphite edge before turning to smoldering tobacco and alder details through the finish. In the hedonist camp, but has good energy. Best from 2018 through 2028. 2,083 cases made.

The 2014 Berliquet is a bit burly, as it was from barrel, but it possesses good depth and enough structure to support at least midterm aging. Black cherry, blueberry, leather and menthol are nicely pushed forward in this tightly wound, pleasantly rustic Saint-Émilion from estate manager Nicolas Thienpont and winemaker David Suire.

The 2014 Berliquet is a bit beefy and rough around the edges, with slightly rustic tannins and noticeably angular contours. Herbs, licorice, mint, new leather and white pepper add shades of nuance. The intense, salivating finish is quite attractive, even if the 2014 still needs time to fully come together.

Soft, sweet, plumy and medium-bodied, this wine has round, easy tannins. It was produced from a blend of 75% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Franc. 88-90 Pts

The Château Berliquet 2014 is a blend of 75% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Franc and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon picked October 1-17, at 30 hectoliters per hectare. It has a fragrant bouquet, one that is well defined, quite floral with wilted violet petals infusing the red and black cherries. This is nicely focused, aromatic and sensual. The palate is soft on the entry with crisp red berry fruit, a fine line of acidity and an endearing sense of harmony. There is just the right amount of reserve and dryness to urge you to take another sip. This is a stylish Berliquet from Nicolas Thienpont and his team.

Flavors are ripe and generous on the nose with hint of confit and ripe cherry. The palate is fresh, lively and quite focused with wonderful purity. The finish reveals a chalky minerality which is attractive and suggests great aging potential. A fantastic wine.

Managed by Nicolas Thienpont (Pavie-Macquin). Fresh, dark fruit nose. Pure and poised. Quite powerful but refined tannins. Plush mid-pale fruit. Freshness again on the finish with a minerally, saline edge. Drink: 2020-2030 (89)

Dark crimson. Healthy lustre. Spicy, even cedary nose with real energy. Racy and muscular. Not dense but very much in the 2014 idiom of freshness without excessive acidity. Decent persistence.  Drink 2020-2030

Lots of oyster shell and dark berry character. Full and chewy with juicy fruit and velvety tannins. A baby but very pretty.

87–89. Barrel Sample. This is a fruity wine that has soft tannins and gentle acidity. It is open, rounded and likely to develop quickly.  — R.V.  (4/2/2015)

Very pure, with a pretty floral edge around the cherry, red currant and damson plum fruit. Silky tannins and a long, elegant finish allow a mineral hint to play out.Managed by Nicolas Thiepont since 2008.

Tannin fin. Ensemble très agréable. Assemblage 75% merlot, 22% cabernet franc et cabernet sauvignon.
