Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru "The Vergers" 2013 - Ropiteau Frères
In 1848, a revolutionary year, the province, less affected than Paris, benefits in a way from a current of new energies to rebuild a modern world in peace and fraternity. The arrival of the railway that year in Meursault prompted Jean Ropiteau to found his trading house with his brothers-in-law. At the age of 24, this Monthélie winemaker and cooper, whose Burgundian roots date back to the 16th century, quickly convinced himself that this means of transport would enable him to make his Burgundy wines known. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the House has been growing steadily, remaining true to its values. In 1940, Auguste Ropiteau bought the current cellars of Meursault. The same year, he bought a field in pluriculture at the Hospices de Beaune, for a pittance, because the time is not really conducive to the sale of wines. The success is such that the name of Ropiteau has become synonymous with great Meursault.
