This is an enjoyable 2nd wine, slim and savoury with cranberry and raspberry fruits, oyster shell salinity on the finish, and soft tannins. 60% aged in oak bares, 40% in cement eggs.

The 2022 La Chapelle de Haut-Bages Libéral, 40% aged in ovoid tanks, has a delightful bouquet with touches of brambly red berry fruit, forest floor and just a background hint of mulch. The palate is medium-bodied, open and stony, with slightly edgy tannins and a dash of black pepper toward the classically styled finish. Fine.

The 2022 La Chapelle de Haut-Bages Libéral is a gorgeous second wine. Dark red-toned fruit, rose petal, blood orange, mint and dried herbs are all finely knit. Supple and juicy, with plenty of complicating savoriness, La Chapelle is impressive. Élevage is 60% French oak (10% new) and 40% cement.
