Ceretto - Barolo Brunate - Barolo Ac. 2020
Ceretto , the iconic crus of Barolo and Barbaresco
Ceretto's story is that of a passion that began in 1937 with Riccardo Ceretto who started an activity that wrote a significant piece of history on the Langhe hills. In the 60s, his sons Bruno and Marcello joined the business with an innovative model for that time in the Piedmont: the importance of the soils. Inspired by the Burgundy, they thought that each vineyard has its own characteristics to reveal and must be considered as a "Cru" in its own right. Thus, they started mapping out the lands that produced the best wines and buying the vineyards. Today the lands have been handed down to their children but the philosophy remains: the land is the soul of Ceretto's wines.
Ceretto's family owns four wineries in the most suited areas of Langhe and Roero. The vineyards cover 160ha with 12ha in Barolo Appellation and 8ha in Barbaresco Appellation. Over the last two decades, aware of their responsibility to their precious lands, the family has embarked on a journey to adopt more environmentally sustainable farming methods and obtained the organic certification in 2015.
Brunate, a charming Barolo
Bricco Roche winery is located in Castiglione Falletto and was built in 1982. It was created to vinify grapes coming from the finest vineyards of the Barolo denomination, including Brunate from La Morra, Bricco Rocche and Cannubi San Lorenzo from Barolo.
Between the town area of La Morra and that of Barolo, fully exposed to the south, the historical Brunate vineyard stretches out: a land of iconic, strongly distinctive wines. For forty years, the wine is made from the fruits of two extended parcels of land spreaded over 5ha, mainly located near the colourful chapel that was decorated by Sol Lewitt and David Tremlett.
