Very pretty wine with blueberry, currant and mineral aromas and flavors. Full to medium body, ultra-fine tannins and a delicious finish. Drink of hold.

A healthy dense ruby/purple color is followed by sweet cassis fruit and floral notes, excellent texture, and a medium-bodied mouthfeel in this fresh, lively, concentrated 2013. Drink this impressive, well-made Margaux over the next decade.

Full ruby.  Fresh aromas of redcurrant, licorice and baking spices.  Juicy and tight in the mouth, with moderate sweetness and intensity to the flavors of black fruits, herbs, licorice and spicy oak.  Finishes moderately long but a little diffuse, with repeating spice and herb notes.  Malescot is usually the most opulent of all Margaux' and a wine I normally really like, but this 2013 is currently tough as nails and a little fruit-challenged.

There is very attractive plum fruit on the nose and a silky palate without much intrusive oak or drying tannin. This is a clever and immediately appealing wine with a clear, bright message. There are a few darker notes hidden in the depths, too. Accomplished winemaking.

Confected, medicinal style fruit. Not much perfume, and loads of chalky tannic grip. Falls away quickly.

The 2013 Malescot Saint Exupéry is a bit tight and rough around the edges, but it also offers good persistence and depth. Smoke, violets, tobacco, grilled herbs and cured meats inform the tannic, somewhat burly finish. Tasted twice.

Forte couleur, toute petite note lactique au nez, corps plein et équilibré, tannin ferme sans sécheresse, un classique de ce cru d’une régularité difficile à prendre en défaut.

A blend 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, the Malescot St. Exupery has a perfumed bouquet with ripe floral cranberry and redcurrant fruit that is nicely defined, the Cabernet lending a pleasant cedar-infused aroma. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, well judged acidity and a light but focused finish that is at least fresh and precise. This is a well-crafted Margaux for the vintage and should drink well over the next 6-8 years.

Dense colour, well-extracted fruit, vigour without heaviness, good mid-term

A pretty wine with a solid core of fruit, plus blueberry and mineral character. Floral. Full-bodied, seamless and long. Racy for the vintage. Half the usual production. Extremely well done.

Attractive and fruity, this wine is developing quickly. It has juicy black fruits that are giving the wine freshness, but not much weight.

Dunkles Granat.

Bright and direct, with good cherry and raspberry coulis notes laced with a mesquite hint. Nice silky finish. Elegant, with good length.—J.M.
