Castle La Garde - Pessac Léognan - 2011
Mostly planted on hot terroirs, the reds have been affected by sometimes excessive temperatures. Scalding (June 27) and maturity blockages and a particularly meticulous vine sorting to retain only the homogeneous clusters significantly reduced the harvest volume. The rains of the summer relaunch happily the maturity of the reds, and the month of September clement leads to a beautiful maturity of late Merlots on clay and Cabernets. The vinification in round grains was favored, with a soft extraction to favor the expression of the grapes. Despite a difficult vintage, the wines are full of promises.
