A juicy, voluptuous wine, the 2014 Chambrun offers notable intensity and terrific overall balance at this level. Loads of black fruit, smoke, scorched earth, tobacco, rose petal and raspberry jam open up as the 2014 shows off its hugely appealing personality. There is plenty to admire here.

The Château de Chambrun 2014 has a perfumed, floral bouquet with blackberry, undergrowth and dried rose-petal scents that are nicely combined. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated ripe tannin, a good level of acidity, plenty of soft, sensual black fruit with a linear finish when you might have expected it to fan out. Barrel aging will surely benefit this Lalande-de-Pomerol. Good potential

Tiefes Purpur, satt in der Mitte, Granatschimmer am Rand. Offenes, leicht milchiges Bouquet, das ergibt – zusammen mit der Frucht – einen gewissen Brombeerjogurttouch in der Nase. Im Gaumen aromatisch, aussen schön angerundet und im Finale mit Black Currant, Lakritze und dunklem Malz endend. Fürmich wird dieser Wein eben so gut wie ein eigener 2009er und ist von der Ausrichtung her sogar nochpräziser. 17/20 2021 – 2037
