The 2021 Château Bouscaut shows the more linear, straight, medium-bodied style of the vintage as well as quality notes of darker, chocolaty fruits and notes of tobacco and dried herbs. This fresh, focused, classic 2021 has lots to like, and it should be ready to go on release.

The 2021 Bouscaut has a rather conservative nose, with modest blackberry and briar scents and a hint of black olive compote, but there is no underripeness here. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. Fresh and clean, this is sapid and quite line

Pretty plum and cherry fruit on the nose with chocolate orange and hazelnut, too. It’s creamy and medium-bodied with powdery tannins. Nicely firm finish. 47% merlot, 44% cabernet sauvignon and 9% malbec. Better after 2024.

There is enough fruit here and also enough weight to just about work. The oak is not too dominant either, and while this is a fairly quiet Bouscaut, there is some class here, and it will relax into early-drinking, medium-weight form before too long. 15.5

Joli nez floral et poivré, texture souple, beaucoup de fraîcheur et de délicatesse aromatique, sur un tannin plus séducteur que dans le type plus classique et répandu de l’appellation. Fin de bouche sur la fraise, fort agréable.
