Vinous

The 2023 Bel-Air (Lussac-Saint-Émilion) Jean & Gabriel is bold, punchy and super-expressive. Inky dark fruit, licorice, spice, menthol, gravel and menthol are nicely amplified. Cabernet Franc plays an important role in complementing the richness of Merlot planted on clay in a relatively cool, late-ripening site. All this needs a bit more polish in the tannins. Aging is in 500-liter barrels, 30% new.
