Almaviva - Vina Almaviva - Chile 2009

2009 was a generous year marked by a normal rainfall in winter, a nice spring, a number of bunches higher than usual, a perfect flowering and a berry setting, a typical hot and cold summer with the heat of the day the nights, and finally a great quality of fruit, fully ripe, healthy and juicy, with a special smoothness of tannins. An important work of green harvest has been made to reduce yields, mainly on the younger vines, as well as in the production of 30-year-old yields (21hl / ha). 2009 was also an earlier year, from budding to harvest, ending in a faster ripening process. Harvest started with Merlot on March 26th and finished with Carmenere on May 20th, while the Cabernets Sauvignon from Puente Alto were harvested from April 15th to May 15th, and Carmenere from Peumo from May 11th to May 16th. A complex wine with licorice, blackberry, chocolate, walnut and light coffee bean character. Full body, with super integrated tannins and a long finish. Refined. Wonderful balance. 73% cabernet sauvignon, 22% carmenere, 4% cabernet franc, and 1% merlot. Drink now or hold.
