Viñedo Chadwick rend hommage à Don Alfonso Chadwick et met en avant la tradition et l'expertise de la famille Chadwick dans la production de vins fins. Ce vignoble, qui était à l'origine son terrain de polo personnel, est aujourd'hui reconnu comme le berceau chilien du Cabernet Sauvignon de classe mondiale.
Situé à Puente Alto, dans la vallée de Maipo, Viñedo Chadwick a marqué l'histoire lors de la légendaire "dégustation de Berlin" en janvier 2004, où le millésime 2000 a été classé premier, surpassant les Super Toscans d'Italie et les premiers crus de Bordeaux de cette année-là.

Pour célébrer les 25 ans du domaine, le millésime 2023 se pare d’un packaging exclusif : une étiquette dédiée, une bouteille fabriquée en France et un coffret en bois réalisé sur mesure, exclusivement conçus pour cette édition anniversaire.

Le millésime 2023 :

Le millésime 2023 de Viñedo Chadwick a donné naissance à un vin remarquable, à la robe intense, aux arômes de fruits frais et aux tanins élégants. La saison chaude chaude a donné naissance à un vin qui allie une fraîcheur vibrante à une structure raffinée, exprimant parfaitement la qualité exceptionnelle de ce terroir.

À Viñedo Chadwick, l’influence de la cordillère des Andes a permis de préserver la fraîcheur tout au long de ce millésime chaud, les températures étant finalement restées en deçà de la moyenne des dix dernières années. Les vendanges se sont étalées sur trois semaines à un mois, et la production est limitée.

Au nez, il dévoile une palette complexe et profonde, mêlant des arômes intenses de fruits rouges frais, comme la cerise et la framboise, à de délicates notes florales de rose sauvage. En bouche, ces nuances florales se retrouvent harmonieusement, accompagnées de saveurs douces et fraîches de fruits rouges. Always a wine with a ton of depth and character, and it goes the distance - I had a 15 year old version recently at home and it had held up beautifully. Fine tannins, welcoming toasted spices of rosemary, cumin, cracked black pepper, crayon, graphite, touch of balsamic and soy. 15ha estate from owner Eduardo Chadwick, Emily Falconer winemaker. This has changed its Bordeaux release date from September to March.

With a special 25^th year celebration label. Glossy, very pure, aerial and lifted even if it’s a little close at first. Less obviously spicy and a little more classical and refined and restrained than it sometimes is at this stage. Shimmering in its cool precision and elegance, very layered and with a fantastic luminous and crystalline presence in the mouth – sheets of silk layered on top of one another. The florality, only subtly suggested aromatically, is so well conveyed to the palate. So cool and plunge-pool at the core. Pixilating tannins pick out little details and also the layering. Milles feuilles. I love it. There’s a subtle florality here too. Sumptuous, yet so refined and elegant.

Crisp, pure and fine with a lovely depth and weight on the palate. Not heavy, more refined and focussed with vibrant energy and precision. This feels accessible and classically styled with structure and sinewy muscles. Filling in a great way. Pure and elegant with beautiful pristine fruit, clean and so transparent. Plus you really get the florality come through. Incredibly open and enjoyable.

The 2023 Viñedo Chadwick is deep garnet-purple in color. It shoots from the glass with bold notes of black-currant jelly, sautéed herbs, and tree moss, followed by hints of graphite and tapenade. The medium-bodied palate is tightly wound with expressive cassis and herbal flavors, framed by firm, grainy tannins and amazing tension, finishing long and savory. The blend is 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Syrah.

As always, this is super refined, but with convincing cabernet sauvignon depth on the nose. Lightly ashy, with a medium to full body and lots of fine cigar box, tobacco, cassis, dark berries, cocoa powder and hints of cumin and fennel. Firm and rich, and the tannins are polished but chalky and reactive, with an incredibly long, juicy finish. This is the 25th vintage of Vinedo Chadwick, and it is definitely one of the best cabernets from this hot vintage, but I don't feel any heat here. In fact, I can't even tell that this comes from a warm year. 96% cabernet sauvignon and 4% petit verdot. This shows transparency and purity of fruit compared with the more cedary 2021. This is one of the best vintages of Vinedo de Chadwick. There is lovely balance that makes it approachable now, but it will be better from 2027.

The 2023 Viñedo Chadwick includes 4% Petit Verdot and underwent an 18-month élevage in 90% barrique and 10% foudre. It is a more high-toned and beaming expression in this vintage, opening with dried herb, pipe tobacco, amaro and vanilla aromas, along with a bright, red-fruited and elegantly floral core. The palate displays Chadwick's textbook grace and finesse, combining a juicy and seamless profile of understated ripeness with mouthwatering acidity that carries through the refined, sturdy finish. Youthful, oak-derived aromas of vanilla and graphite emerge with further aeration, as does a touch of retronasal perfume that further enlivens the finish. Overall, this is a charming showing of Chadwick that is quite approachable in its youth, and my score could appear conservative with more time in bottle.

The 2023 Viñedo Chadwick is a blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot from Puente Alto. This vintage offers a slightly more restrained fruit profile, with notes of cherry, balsamic hints and a touch of cedar contributing complexity. With air, subtle tones of preserves and sour cherry begin to emerge. The palate is dry and linear, with fine tannins and a lean feel that reflects the character of the year. Integrated acidity lifts the finish, while the structure suggests this will gain in delicacy with time, even if it remains somewhat tightly wound today.
