Combining remarkable elegance allied to considerable power and depth, this is the finest wine from Troplong Mondot since the staggeringly great 1990. Its saturated purple color is followed by aromas of ink, creme de cassis, graphite, and toasty oak. Full-bodied and powerful, with excellent balance, this is a wine of extraordinary richness and massiveness yet surreal freshness as well as vibrancy. The finish lasts for over 45 seconds and nearly conceals some hefty tannins. With fabulous definition, richness, and intensity, this is a compelling 2000. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2026.

Lovely berry, cherry and spice, with hints of mineral. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a pretty mineral and berry aftertaste. A sexy and refined red. Best after 2009. 7,080 cases made.

Full-bodied and powerful, with excellent balance, this is a wine of extraordinary depth and massiveness yet surreal freshness as well as vibrancy. The finish lasts for over forty seconds. With fabulous definition, richness, and intensity, this impressive 2000 will be ready to drink by 2006 and last for 25 years. This property has been producing brilliant wines since 1988. Should it be a surprise that one of Bordeaux's best-looking proprietors makes a pretty wine?

A fabulous offering from Christine Valette, who has been producing great St.-Emilions since the late eighties, the 2000 boasts a thick, opaque blue/purple color as well as highly-extracted notes of blackberry and cassis fruit, minerals, espresso beans, and vanilla. It is dense and full-bodied, with high tannin, good acidity, and laser-like clarity/definition. The immense mid-palate and huge finish are formidably constructed and muscular. While this wine will age gracefully, patience is required. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2025. This is a classic, old style vin de garde with modern-styled tannin.
