Wine Advocate

As an enthusiastic admirer of Madame Christine Valette's brilliant work at Troplong-Mondot, I regret to write that the 1999, tasted on three occasions, is uninspiring. The dark ruby color is followed by attractive smoky, black cherry, and mineral aromas, but the wine is soft, diffuse, and lacks concentration. Although elegant, it does not possess the persistence, richness, and multiple layers of concentration and complexity readers have come to expect from Troplong-Mondot. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2012.
