Orange, grapefruit, lemon rind, flint. Broad and wide on the palate with a lovely weight. It’s serious, not super tangy, more filling and wide, with a bitter orange tang and peach, pear and apple fruit. Rich and gourmet but clean and clear, with hints of bright acidity and juiciness that accent the quite thick texture. Calm and controlled. Textured, sleek, and clean, well defined, punchy and sharp. Great potential. 3.1 total acidity. Ageing nine months, 30% new French oak barrels, 70% one wine.

Possibly even better, and a remarkable white in the vintage, the 2022 Château Suduiraut Vieilles Vignes reveals a vivid gold hue as well as an already complex bouquet of bright citrus, caramelized limes, tart melon, and minty herbs. A blend of 55% Sémillon and 45% Sauvignon Blanc that's still resting in 30% new barrels, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a layered, concentrated mouthfeel, and a great finish. This rich, textured, incredibly impressive white is going to shine on the dinner table. It should benefit from 2-3 years in the cellar and drink nicely over the following decade.

Sweet juicy lemons, white peach, spice, mango, and honeysuckle on the nose get this started. But it is on the palate, with its sweet citrus, orange pith, and touch of honey where the wine shows its best.

Pale straw. Citrus and aniseed notes, the Sauvignon present but less marked. Good fruit depth, the palate full and gras with a hint of integrated oak. Harmonious if a pinch flat but should evolve. (JL) 16+
