Very powerful nose. Big, burly, very strong - and ripe - Cabernet aromas. But pretty inky, green finish. Shame because the start is unusually opulent and welcoming. Drink 2013-2020

Le cru s'agrandit encore, les rendements en légère baisse sont significatifs de la volonté de la fille et du gendre de Jean à être plus sévères dans le contrôle des charges. Le vin semble moins trapu et vineux que le 2005, plus intransigeant et intense dans sa texture, assez année en 6 par rapport aux années en 5, et bien trop jeune pour qu'on puisse voir dans quelle direction il part. Seule certitude, il faut l'attendre encore dix ans.

Very dark crimson. Mild and malty and very appealing. Thick and sweet and savoury as well - an appealing combo. Though perhaps rather less obviously terroir-driven than most earlier vintages. Lightly green tannins on the finish but so light that I think this will make very appealing old bones. But very very youthful at the moment. Rich and then a bit drier on the finish with less stuffing than the 2005. Drink 2016-30

Classic aromas of black currants, graphite, powdered wet rocks, and earthy undertones compete with the intense black currant fruit present in this structured, medium to full-bodied, concentrated 2006. Always an over-achiever, Sociando Mallet is built for 20-30 years of longevity. The elegant, powerful, but backward 2006 requires patience. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2025.

(tasted from cuve Good red-ruby. More perfumed aromas of dark fruits, spices and minerals, with complicating herbal and spicy nuances. A step up in concentration and stuffing from the 2007. In an elegant, savory style, with enticing minerality and good breadth. Finishes with firm, dusty tannins and good length. Evolving nicely.
