Sigalas Rabaud - Sauternes 2019

As I wrote previously, the 2019 Sigalas Rabaud needs to muster more delineation and precision on the nose to match its peers. There is a light resinous element here. The palate is better with crisp acidity, fresh with stem ginger and orange rind infusing the honeyed fruit. It's pretty viscous towards the finish, though it needs a tad more complexity. Fine, maybe give it another couple of years. Tasted from a bottle sent directly from Sigalas Rabaud to the UK.

The color is lighter than I thought, with a subtle reductive note like flint and scents of peach and orange blossom. After swirling the glass, it sends out a strand of kumquat and mandarin. The tingling spicy note of fresh pepper and bitter almond intertwine on the palate, making me unconsciously sip and sip again. ??????,????????????????????????,????????????????????????????????????????????????????,???????????,?????????????

Serious nose of dried apricot, fig, yellow plum, jasmine, burnt lemon and mushroom. Creamy and sweet, yet with some savory and toasty elements. Creme-brulee notes on the finish. Drink or hold.

The 2019 Sigalas Rabaud shows better from bottle than it did as a barrel sample. Some of the mid-palate has filled out, which is a plus. Orange confit, dried flowers and chamomile are nicely laced together in this understated, mid-weight Sauternes.

The 2019 Sigalas Rabaud is missing a bit of presence on the nose. The palate is well defined, fresh and vibrant, and quite mineral-driven, with a fine bitter lemon note countering the botrytis on the finish. Not bad, but I feel it could have been better.

Casting a pale lemon-gold color, the 2019 Sigalas Rabaud hits the ground running with fabulously intense scents of tangerine peel, lemon marmalade, clover honey and paraffin wax plus suggestions of allspice, candied ginger and orange blossoms plus a waft of chalk dust. The palate is a blow-you-over, powerful expression, featuring condensed layers of citrus preserves, honey and spice notions with an unctuous texture and just enough freshness to balance, finishing with epic persistence. Impressive showing.

The 2019 Sigalas Rabaud is pointed and bright in feel. A Sauternes of energy more than volume, the 2019 offers up notes of lemon oil, white flowers, mint and light tropical accents. This is one of the more airy, perfumed wines of the year. The 2019 is restrained and a bit dry, but not bad.

The 2019 Sigalas Rabaud does not quite deliver the same precision on the nose as other Sauternes that I tasted. The palate is fresh and spicy with ginger and marmalade notes, moderate depth with a nicely poised, quite Barsac-like finish. Hopefully the aromatics will improve by the time of bottling.

Pineapple. crushed rock, vanilla, flowers and caramel on the nose and sweet, pineapple with a generous helping of honey and marmalade on the finish is what you will find here. 91-93 Pts

A layered, spicy, sweet Sauternes. Medium-to full-bodied and medium-sweet with a spicy, botrytis finish. Plenty of creme brulee at the end.
