Blackcurrant leaf, some dried herbs, dark chocolate and bitter orange touches. Crisp with bright red berries - gently juicy with some chalky, creamy aspects on the mid palate. There’s tension here with liquorice and salty stones but actually it softens quite quickly ending with a mineral and softly bitter finish. Cool and long. Classic and will be very enjoyable. A yield of 33hl/ha. 3.85pH. Less Merlot than usual. Biggest percentage of Petit Verdot in the blend. Harvest 27th September to 9th October.

Deep garnet-purple colored. Notes of red currant jelly and rhubarb preserves leap from the glass, plus hints of tar, dried sage, and damp soil. The light-bodied palate is rugged and chewy with just enough freshness and an herbal finish.

Based on 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot resting in 30% new barrels, the 2024 Château Poujeaux is deep purple-hued with solid Cabernet notes of darker currants, blackberries, scorched earth, and graphite. Medium-bodied, with a focused, structured mouthfeel, ripe yet building tannins, and a good finish, it should easily end up being an outstanding wine.

Plus grande proportion de Petit Verdot jamais utilisée à Poujeaux ! Le bouquet se révèle de manière filigrane et complexe, par moult nuances ; des notes de feuilles de tabac, de myrtilles et de menthe abondent dans ce sens. De densité médiane, le vin est élégant et équilibré. Ses tannins assurent bien les arrières. Grâce à leur subtile austérité, ils favorisent la fraîcheur et la persistance aromatique. Un vin qui doit gagner en étoffe. Les perspectives sont favorables.  2028-2044

Quite nutty in its aromatic profile – usually a good sign of the ripeness of the pips – with dark berry fruits but little of the graphite or cedar of Chasse-Spleen, though a little more when re-tasted. Glossy and sleek on the palate, unusually so in fact for the vintage, and quite crystalline on the attack and opening, the extraction clearly very gentle. But you see why by the time you get to the finish where the acidity seem to gather and the tannins shade a little towards the dry-side. A little grainy on the finish. The Petit Verdot brings a green peppercorn note to this that helps sustain this on the finish.

Ausdruckstark, frisch, feinwürzig, Cassis, Brombeeren und florale Noten; am Gaumen leicht cremig im Auftakt, feingliedrig, dabei gut strukturiert, die knackige, rote Frucht wird von markanten, jedoch feinen Tanninen getragen, eine saftige Säure trägt zur Struktur bei; lang, würzig, rotfruchtig im Abgang. Ein ausgezeichneter Poujeaux von klassischem Bau.

The 2024 Poujeaux includes less Merlot but more Petit Verdot this year. It was picked from September 27 to October 9 and matured in 33% new oak for a planned 12 months. The 2024 has a straightforward bouquet with blackberry and briar scents, a little conservative compared to the fireworks in the '22, though the bottle at the château shows more complexity and nuance. The palate is medium-bodied with strict tannins, tertiary black fruit and graphite notes, classic in style with more tobacco notes towards the composed finish. This is an early-drinking Poujeaux with the substance to give 15 to 18 years of drinking pleasure.

The 2024 Poujeaux is quite bold and savory, largely because of the elevated presence of Petit Verdot in the blend. Dried flowers, lavender, spice and licorice lend dark tonalities to the bouquet. In 2024, Poujeaux is quite reticent, despite its mid-weight structure and modest 12.5% alcohol. I would cellar it for a few years, as this needs time to come together. I find the 2024 a bit raw and unformed at this stage, and yet it has plenty of depth to make me cautiously optimistic about the future. Tasted two times.

Flowers, cedar, currants, and tobacco wrappers create the perfume. Fresh, vibrant, crisp, and chewy, the lively fruits finish with a refreshing touch of mint, and spices on the back end of the finish. The wine blends 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, and 15% Petit Verdot, 12.5% ABV. Harvesting took place September 27 - October 9. Drink from 2028-2040.

Château Poujeaux’s 2024 vintage reflects a winemaker’s calm and composed mindset, one that embraces the realities of the vintage with quiet confidence. As always, the wine shows a hint of reduction upon opening in its youth, but with a gentle swirl, delicate notes of strawberry and raspberry begin to emerge, subtly dusted with traces of licorice powder. The palate is slim and graceful. Unlike many others that attempt to enhance structure through tannins, Château Poujeaux embraces the relatively low concentration of the 2024 vintage, calmly and gracefully expressing its unique beauty.

Medium intensity deep plum colour, fragrant cumin and turmeric spice, this is enjoyable, sappy, a little leafy for sure but manages to capture the old school charm of a cooler Médoc vintage, and will deliver pleasure for a long time to come. Harvest September 27 to October 9. 33hl/h yield, 3.85ph, Mathieu Cuvelier owner. Tasted twice.

Dark ruby, purple reflections, broad and bright rim. Delicate red berry nuances, a hint of currant, subtle herbal spice. Medium complexity, some cassis, fresh structure, mineral finish, some nougat on the aftertaste, offers uncomplicated drinking pleasure.
