The 2021 Château Ormes De Pez is another charming, forward, undeniably delicious Saint-Estephe in the vintage. Slightly more red-fruited, it has ample currant fruit as well as some spicy, herbal nuances. These all carry to a medium-bodied, balanced, nicely textured 2021 with ripe tannins and integrated acidity. Give it 2-4 years and enjoy over the following decade or so.

The 2021 Ormes de Pez delivers notes of cassis, pencil shavings and toasty oak, followed by a medium-bodied, suave and polished palate with a nicely concentrated core of fruit framed by tangy acids and sweet, powdery tannins.

A rather tannic and structured young wine with black currant and spice with some walnut and cedar undertones. Medium body. Juicy and flavorful. Rather lean at the end. 49% merlot, 40% cabernet sauvignon, 6% cabernet franc and 5% petit verdot. Give it two or three years to soften.

Ormes de Pez goes from strength to strength, and this 2021 is a juicy and harmonious wine with bright, focussed fruit and a Merlot-led flavour of plums and mulberries. The Cabernets and Petit Verdot back up the Merlot attack giving this wine more depth and length than expected. I also anticipate it drinking well in its youth, so this is a joyous success in 2021. 17

Medium-bodied with a firm tannin frame and pretty notes of pencil lead, blackberries and some walnuts. Hints of chocolate orange, too. Structured and a little chewy, with perfumed character. Juicy. 49% merlot, 40% cabernet sauvignon, 6% cabernet franc and 5% petit verdot.

Managed by the team at Lynch-Bages, the 2021 Château Ormes De Pez comes from a 40-hectare vineyard in Saint-Estèphe. Medium to full-bodied, it has ripe tannins, good depth of fruit, and classic notes of darker fruits, loamy earth, tobacco leaf, and chalky minerality.

It is not easy to achieve this level of intensity, with an IPT of 80 and alcohol level of 13.13%, in 2021. This shows that the winery has been very strict in controlling fruit quality. Accompanied by the round body and delicately powdery tannins, the signature spicy black pepper and refreshing cedar notes of Cabernet Sauvignon cling tightly to the fragrance of ripe berry fruits, carrying through till the end. ???2021??????????????(IPT:80;13.13%),??????????????????????????????????????????????,??????????????????????

The 2021 Ormes de Pez is matured in 45% new oak. This has a fragrant nose, very well defined, in fact, perhaps more sophisticated than the Haut-Batailley at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, a little powdery in texture, touches of graphite towards the almost Pauillac-like finish. A stylish Saint-Estèphe, this is recommended. 13.13% alcohol.

Mittleres Rubin. Würzige Nase, auch florale Töne, rote Beeren, verspielt. Im Gaumen schlank, frisch, mit kernigen Gerbstoffen, einer delikaten Frucht und viel Rasse. Angenehm langer, würziger Abgang mit rotfruchtigen Rückaromen. 2026-2040 (Verkostet im April 2022. UGCB)

Assemblages réalisés. Un bouquet très cerise noire, mure, légèrement violette avec une touche d'iris. Très élégant tout en étant gourmand. Bouche dense, tannique mais sans lourdeur et une belle assise traçante et délicate. Un joli vin en devenir. Très charmeur.

The 2021 Ormes de Pez exhibits aromas of cassis, licorice, warm spices and toasty new oak, followed by a medium-bodied, lively and nicely concentrated palate built around rich, powdery tannins that will round out with further maturation in barrel. Produced by the Cazes family of Château Lynch-Bages, it shows promise.

Sweet strawberry, orange, grapefruit, plums and blackcurrants, but the sweet jammy kind. This is fruit forward and expressive out the gate, round and so appealing. Spiced aspects from the Petit Verdot with a sturdy backbone in terms of structure and frame. Tannins are more on the austere side, fine and detailed, extremely mouthfilling but you can almost taste each one with the minerality coming through strongly leaving that clean wet stone taste in the mouth. Ripe and juicy dark fruit also. This is medium bodied with lots of precision in terms of detail. Lovely potential here. 5% Petit Verdot completes the blend. 3.68pH.
