Tasted at Bordeaux Index annual 10-year on tasting from an ex-château bottle. The Château Clinet 2004 has a well-defined bouquet with mulberry, wild strawberry and light floral tones that unfold nicely in the glass. This is very fragrant and floral with a sumptuous quality, a trait that is uncommon in this vintage. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, supple red fruit with fine mineralité towards the truffle tinged finish and a potent wild mushroom aftertaste. Drink this in the near future because it will not improve any further. Tasted March 2014.

For a wine so upfront and precocious in its youth, I am surprised how reticent this is after a couple of years in bottle. Blackberry, that hint of seaweed again but complemented by freshly rolled tobacco and graphite. The palate has a sweet entry, quite masculine with spice and liquorice infusing the black fruits. This Clinet remains surly, masculine and unresolved towards the finish. It just needs to meld together and harmonize. Not bad, but not close to the heights of the 1989 or 1990. Drink 2011-2018. Tasted November 2008.

As recent vintages have tended to be, the 2004 Clinet is a strong effort. Its dark purple color is followed by classic aromas and flavors of truffles, mocha, espresso roast, plums, jammy black cherries, and darker fruits. Medium-bodied and ripe with light to moderate tannin, it should drink nicely for 10-15 years.

Red-ruby. Enticing aromas of red fruits, smoked meat and mocha. Plush, ripe and full; this surprisingly accessible wine already offers considerable sex appeal. A very round wine that finishes with ripe tannins and very good length.

A clean, focused red, with plum, berry and light vanilla aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, with slightly chewy, drying tannins, yet a fresh, clean aftertaste. A little disappointing for this property, but a very good red. Best after 2010. 2,500 cases made.

A dense purple color is accompanied by an impressive bouquet of blackberries, licorice, smoke, and truffles. Medium to full-bodied, pure, well-textured, and rich, with moderately high tannin, this is a wine for patient connoisseurs. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020.

La robe très sombre laisse entrevoir des reflets violets. D'abord fermé, le nez exprime un arôme de cassis, asses superbe. Dense, compact, doté d'un superbe milieu de bouche concentré et velouté, le vin repose sur des tanins fermes et offre de la longueur. Le millésime 2004 renoue avec les glorieux succès du passé.
