The 2015 Latour a Pomerol builds on its potential from barrel with a fantastic bouquet: beautifully defined blackberry, briary, cold wet limestone and light wild heather aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin and superb delineation—this is so focused and tensile, yet the finish shows immense panache and you will not be able to resist that silky smooth finish. Bon vin! Anticipated maturity: 2022 - 2045.

The 2015 Latour à Pomerol is fabulous. Super-ripe red cherry, mint, crushed herbs, licorice and tobacco are all woven together in a fabric of pure and total class as this powerful, explosive Pomerol shows off its arresting beauty. As gorgeous as the 2015 is today, it also is going to need at least a number of years in bottle to be at its very best. The fusion of power and sensuality makes for a compelling Pomerol that is going to drink well for several decades. The 2015 has much to say, all it needs is time.

A blend of 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Latour à Pomerol has an earthy/meaty nose of chargrilled meats, fertile loam, fungi and beef drippings over a core of blackberry preserves, cassis and pencil shavings plus a touch of tobacco. Medium to full-bodied, the palate offers tons of savory layers with a firm, chewy structure and a lively line cutting through the tightly wound flavors, finishing long and earthy.

Starts with a bright, fresh floral note followed by a range of fig, cherry and plum compote flavors. Becomes progressively denser and fleshier through the finish, with melted licorice, loam and roasted apple wood details taking over, ending with a long swath of all the elements pulled together. For the cellar. Best from 2022 through 2035. 2,517 cases made.  –JM

This steps into an elite league of Pomerol class and concentration, whilst still exuding freshness and transparency. It is a great vintage for Latour à Pomerol. Smells of pristine lightly spiced blueberries and plums and leads to intense flavors of red plums and red cherries cloaked in perfectly integrated spicy oak. Long, regal tannins that are seamless. This is clearly the best Latour à Pomerol for over 30 years. Try from 2023.

Il allie raffinement aromatique, texture souple et déliée avec une belle finale, longue, séveuse, très pure dans l’expression du fruit.

The 2015 Latour a Pomerol is a blend of 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc. It has an intense bouquet: black cherries, kirsch, truffle and a subtle sea spray scent that emerges only with aeration in the glass. The palate is very smooth on the entry. This is a refined and composed, almost graceful Latour-à-Pomerol, silky smooth in texture with layers of spicy black fruit fanning out on the finish. It is likely to be the best wine from this estate in several years - one to look out for once in bottle. Drink 2020-2050

This wine has been getting better and better since the 2009 vintage, and 2015 is no exception. Fresh, silky and round, it serves up sweet, ripe, polished cherries and an earthy persona. The finish kicks in nicely with layers of black raspberries anointed with a bit of spice.

The sleeper in the Moueix stable. Generous dark fruit – rich and weighty – but with fine, fresh tannins that are ripe and rounded. Plenty of depth, offering good value. 2022-2035

Touché de bouche ultra-fin avec un satiné irrésistible et un tannin de grande classe qui se montre d’un croquant confondant en même temps que fondant. La violette marque la finale aérienne, on reste sous le charme. Ce sera le rapport qualité/prix du millésime.

The 2015 Latour à Pomerol exudes power and intensity. Beams of tannin give the wine its vertical feel and overall sense of structure. Scents of graphite, smoke, leather and red cherry jam meld into a core of intense fruit as this richly constituted Pomerol shows off its pedigree. All the elements fall into place in this super-expressive Pomerol. Readers can look forward to several decades of exceptional drinking. Latour à Pomerol is 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc.

94–96. Barrel Sample. Dark and packed with tannins, this is a concentrated wine. It shows great power and intensity along with just the right amount of fine acidity to give it the potential for fruits in the future. This wine that will age a long time.

19/20 2024 – 2038

Wow. This is clearly the best Latour à Pomerol for over 30 years. Full and fabulously silky, it shows so much depth of fruit and length. It goes on for minutes. Mostly merlot with a touch of cabernet franc.

A serious wine, featuring dark fig and currant fruit that has melded beautifully with the ample charcoal and loam notes. Dense but defined, with very lush tannins cascading through the finish. This will take some time to unwind but should be worth the wait.—J.M.
