Lovely and refreshing, this is a plum and cherry style of Fugue. Not too raw nor too lean, considering this comes from the sandier sites on the property, there is undoubtedly some heightened acidity here, and the feel is of a gentle red-fruited beauty with a dangerous side to its character. The finish will soften more during élévage, and it will need just a bit more time than usual to soften. 16.5

The second wine of Château Nenin, the 2021 Fugue De Nenin has lots of up-front red and black fruits as well as some herbal and tobacco notes. First made in 1997 and sourced from more sandy soils around the estate, it's medium-bodied, charming, up-front, and will be ready to go right out of the gate.

The 2021 Fugue de Nénin, matured in 15% new oak, has a pretty, if simple, pastille-like bouquet with red cherries and cranberry scents, just a hint of blue fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy ripe red fruit laced with white pepper, gentle grip and ample weight. It feels approachable, as a Deuxième Vin should be, with a dash of spice on the granular finish. Fine. 13.00% alcohol

Assemblages réalisés. 2/3 de la production. 15 % de barriques neuves. Très joli bouquet de fruits noirs frais, de cassis, de mure avec une pointe florale. Gourmand et frais. Pointe graphite à l'aération. Légère amertume en bouche avec une belle tension, des tanins structurants et enveloppants et une structure d'ensemble parfaitement équilibrée. Plus tendu que d'habitude, reste toutefois très beau.

Anything that didn't make the cut was sold off in bulk, so the 2021 Fugue de Nenin is the result of a severe selection. Offering up aromas of sweet berries, cassis and burning embers, it's medium-bodied, fleshy and charming, with melting tannins and a pure finish.
