The 2023 de Fieuzal is packed with black cherry, gravel, chocolate, menthol and a kiss of French oak. There's good depth and plenty of palate presence. I suppose this could use a touch more finesse, but there is nevertheless plenty to like.

The 2023 Château de Fieuzal is quite backward and sultry on the nose, just a touch of Wellington boot that infuses the black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins, a little muscular in style and missing the grace of the excellent and superior white de Fieuzal. Maybe it will mellow with bottle age?

Very earthy, with ground coffee, elderberries and a thyme-like herbal note. The succulent palate is medium- to full-bodied, with a lovely savory touch in the finish. Better from 2023.

Die Tiefe und Präzision, die Fieuzal im Bouquet an den Tag legt, sagt viel über die Ambitionen aus, die sich der Wein in den letzten Jahren gesetzt hat. Die Harmonie zwischen mineralischen und fruchtigen Nuancen wird durch einen erfrischenden Hauch von Kräutern und Pfingstrosen ergänzt. Der Wein ist von Anfang an dicht und verfügt über fleischige, aber auch knackige Tannine und eine Säurestruktur, die im Abgang für Frische und Salzigkeit sorgt. Ein charaktervoller Wein mit Frische und Harmonie als Energiequellen.

The 2023 Château De Fieuzal is terrific, with ripe plum and cassis fruit as well as some chocolaty, leafy herb and damp earth nuances. A classic Graves, it’s medium to full-bodied and has fine tannins, good overall balance, and outstanding length. Based on 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Petit Verdot, it should easily be an outstanding wine.

Flowers, cherries, black raspberries, plums, and a touch of spice create the perfume. Medium-bodied, with a strong sense of purity to the fruits, coupled with elegance, sweetness, racy tannins, and touches of spice, with herbs in the mid-palate, and in the finish. The wine blends 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Petit Verdot. 13.5% ABV. Drink from 2027-2045. 92-94 Pts.

Vibrant plum in colour, with juice, density and grip, another sign of how they are evolving the structure and architecture of this wine, giving it nuance without sacrificing the complexity. Cocoa bean, sweet berry, fruits, this is delicious.

Deep dark ruby, purple reflections. Delicate notes of nougat and spices, black cherries, some blackberries and cassis, inviting bouquet. Medium complexity, red berryish texture, fresh acidity, chocolatey in the finish, balanced and persistent, a versatile food wine.

Medium to full-bodied, layered and textural, it’s pure and seamless, with a fleshy core of fruit, bright acids and powdery, ultra-refined tannins, concluding with a mineral, penetrating finish. This blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot stands out in this challenging vintage for gravelly, sandy terroirs. Under the adept guidance of Stephen Carrier, the estate—positioned on the border of the Pessac-Léognan appellation—has hit new heights in recent years.

Very impressive freshness and focus here. Bright and succulent, al-dente fruit right upfront and continuing through the whole length of the wine. Notes of forest floor, sea shell and iodine. Medium body. It has bright acidity that adds tension and a lot of energy. Fine tannins, already beautifully integrated.
