Offering up aromas of sweet mulberries and blackberries mingled with hints of licorice, violets and red fruit compote, the 2020 de Fieuzal is medium to full-bodied, rich and gourmand, its broad attack segueing into a supple, layered mid-palate that's framed by ripe acids and sweet, powdery tannins. This is a deeper, more powerful Fieuzal than its 2019 counterpart.

From a château that deserves more recognition in the market, the 2020 Château De Fieuzal is a brilliant Pessac- Léognan based on 65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Petit Verdot raised in 60% new barrels. It has a gorgeously pure nose of cassis, ripe black cherries, violets, spice, and scorched earth. This carries to a medium to full-bodied, seamless, layered wine with ripe tannins, plenty of mid-palate depth, and a great mix of richness and elegance. It deserves 4-5 years in the cellar and will drinking incredibly well over the following two decades.

Lusciously-textured with multiple layers of perfectly ripe, black cherries, blackberries, complicated by nuances of smoked wood embers, blueberries, cocoa, espresso, and licorice, this fabulous, sensuous wine is long, rich, and deep, with staying power you can sense in the opulently-textured mid-palate, and long, fruit-packed finish. Drink from 2025-2045.

The 2020 de Fieuzal is rustic and savory, but then again, there's a fair amount of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot driving the blend. Dark cherry, grilled herbs, new leather, licorice and lavender infuse the 2020 with notable complexity and character. This is showing well .

The 2020 Château de Fieuzal was a vexing wine at primeur when the white showed far better. Now in bottle, it has a light and rather insubstantial nose that is missing real presence. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins, pretty blackberry and briary notes, but dry and a bit mealy on the finish. This is disappointing from de Fieuzal, totally eclipsed by its white counterpart.

Attractive aromas of ripe dark berries, sweet spices, nut shell, fine herbs and graphite. Full and opulent palate with an array of plush, fine-polished tannins which coat the mouth. Succulent dark fruit character beneath. Fresh, long-lasting and flavorful with a firm finish. Try after 2025.

Pure nose offering herb infused white fruit, crushed apple, lime and citrus, rather light palate but balanced in a fresh and crisp style with good purity and length.

The 2020 de Fieuzal is bold, pungent and assertive. Ripe red/purplish berry fruit, licorice, rose petal, mint and graphite add quite a bit of character. Hard, angular contours are impossible to look past. This is a decidedly rustic wine. Tasted two times.

Starting off slightly earthy, the 2020 Château De Fieuzal opens up nicely with time in the glass, developing more scorched earth, graphite, and currant and darker berry-like fruits. Elegant, medium to full-bodied, and lively on the palate, it has the purity and freshness that seem prevalent in all the top wines in this vintage, terrific mid-palate depth, and ripe, polished tannins. I was able to taste this wine on multiple occasions, and it was consistently outstanding.

The 2020 Château de Fieuzal is a little muted on the nose. I left my sample aside for 10–15 minutes, but there still is not much to write home about. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm tannins on the entry, earthy black fruit laced with bell pepper and earthy notes and more tobacco toward the finish. I was hoping to find a de Fieuzal that had regained its mojo, but this does not convince me at the moment. Tasted from two bottles, one ex-château and the other via the UGC, with consistent notes.

Ruby red, plenty of red fruit aromatics also, savoury redcurrant and raspberry, not as concentrated as some, this has sinew and juice, a little austere, but I like the floral aromatics as it opens. A fairly subdued Fieuzal, structured with excellent juicy tension but not generous at this point. Tasted twice. 14 months ageing.

Showing more body and intensity than found in previous vintages, the wine opens with smoked wood embers, black, red and blue fruit, coffee bean, wet earth, thyme and spice box aromas. On the palate the wine is plush, soft and polished, with loads of smoky dark red fruits and a tint of espresso on the mid-palate and in the opulent finish. Give it 5 years in the cellar and it will be even better. 92-94

Deep purple-black in color, the 2020 de Fieuzal sashays out of the glass with scents of black cherry compote, blackcurrant pastilles and baked plums, plus hints of violets, dark chocolate, powdered cinnamon and dried mint. The medium to full-bodied palate is chock-full of juicy black fruits, framed by wonderfully velvety tannins and just enough freshness, finishing on an uplifting mineral note.

A acheter impérativement.

Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Ockerrandaufhellung. Tabakig, feine Kräuterwürze, reife Pflaumen, zart nach Nougat, rauchiger Touch. Mittlere Kom- plexität, frische Kirschen, reife Tannine, mineralisch-salzig im Abgang, rotbeeriger Touch, bereits entwickelt.

A ripe, savory red with blackberry, blueberry, mushroom and walnut aromas and flavors. It’s full-bodied and dense with layers of fruit and tannins.
