G d'Estournel, une nature éclatante et généreuse

Propriété de Michel Reybier depuis 2000, Cos d’Estournel, 2nd Grand Cru Classé en 1855, écrit son histoire, entre audace et humilité.

Produit à partir d'un vignoble de 20 hectares situé dans le Nord Médoc, Goulée by Cos d'Estournel est renommé, à partir du millésime 2019, "G d'Estournel". Le vin bénéficie d'un nouveau packaging lui permettant de s'ancrer un peu plus fortement dans l'univers de Cos d'Estournel.

Le Millésime 2023, le Séduisant

Depuis le terroir septentrional du nord Médoc, G d’Estournel offre un équilibre remarquable et une fraîcheur caractéristique. Les sols argileux et la proximité de l’estuaire de la Gironde ont notamment permis aux Merlot de résister à la chaleur de début
septembre. Débutées le 13 septembre, les vendanges se sont poursuivies jusqu’au 2 octobre afin de vendanger les raisins à parfaite maturité.

Notes de dégustation : 

Le vin se distingue par son énergie, sa rondeur et sa tension. Il présente une structure charnue associée à des notes de menthe poivrée et de cerise noire.

A blend of 64% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc and the balance Petit Verdot, the 2023 G d'Estournel is charming and perfumed, revealing aromas of mulberries, cassis, crème de cassis and flowers. Medium- to full-bodied, sweet and sapid, it is enveloping and expressive, offering good depth at the core, framed by velvety tannins. Bottled in April 2025, it is already approachable.

The 2023 G d’Estournel is deep garnet-purple in color. Notes of fresh black and red plums and black raspberries spill from the glass, followed by hints of lavender, wild thyme, and pencil lead. The light-bodied palate is refreshing and pure, with a light chewiness to the texture and an herbal lift on the finish. The blend is 64% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot.

Deep purple-hued, the 2023 G D'Estournel offers a forward, ripe, sexy style in its ripe black cherries, chocolate, and roasted, smoky tobacco-like aromatics. Medium to full-bodied, ripe, round, and textured on the palate, it has supple tannins, a good sense of freshness, and outstanding length. Mostly Merlot, this is a hidden little gem of a wine to drink over the coming 10-12 years. Drink 2026-2037.

Dark red fruits, licorice, smoke, and chocolate pop in the nose and on the palate. Round, fresh, and fruity, and best of all, it is already quite nice to imbibe. This is the first vintage to include their new parcels, bringing the vineyard to 24 hectares of vines. You can enjoy this upon release. The wine blends 64% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot. Drink from 2026-2034.

The 2023 G d'Estournel is a deep, powerful wine. A blast of dark cherry/plum fruit, gravel, incense, licorice, dried herbs, tobacco and chocolate hits the palate first. This bold, virile Haut-Médoc packs a pretty substantial punch. Strong savory notes from the Cabernet Sauvignon lift the finish in this brooding wine from Cos d'Estournel.

The 2023 G d'Estournel has quite an intense bouquet for this cuvée, with bold blackberry and bilberry scents. Fine purity of fruit. The palate is medium-bodied, with earthy black fruit. Quite a firm tannic backbone here, and it needs a little more flesh to come through on the finish. Just a bit "serious" at the moment.

Dark olives, bark, mocha and blackberries. The expressive medium- to full-bodied palate shows mulberries touched by cedar, with incisive acidity and firm tannins in the finish. A blend of 64% merlot, 26% cabernet sauvignon, 7% cabernet franc and 3% petit verdot. Imposing, yet with a sense of finesse. Better from 2028.

A serious G d'Estournel to celebrate its 20th vintage, well balanced, plenty of spice alongside the blueberry fruits. A touch soft through the mid palate, but great freshness and juice. An extra 4ha of vines to G over the past few years, with more clay and limestone, to help keep acidity in increasingly hot summers, taking it to around 25ha of vines. 45hl/h yield, harvet September 13 to October 2, 20% new oak for ageing. In organic conversion.

The 2023 G d’Estournel is a seriously beautiful wine. Dark, layered and super-expressive, the 2023 has so much to offer. An explosion of red/purplish fruit, spice, rose petal, lavender and mocha makes a strong opening impression. This is an especially bold, fruit-forward vintage for the G, perhaps because of the inclusion of recently acquired parcels planted on clay/limestone soils. The 2023 is all about harmony, and there is plenty of that.

The 2023 G d'Estournel has a very intense and ripe bouquet for this cuvée compared to recent vintages. It’s opulent, almost ravishing. The palate is quite precocious with a granular texture and fine acidity, revealing a little graphite and a dab of black pepper on its linear finish. It is just missing a little amplitude, turning a little spirituous on the aftertaste.

A fine and linear tannin structure that gives finesse and focus to the wine. Medium-bodied with fresh and bright fruit and a silky finish. Shows slightly more finesse than in the past. A blend of 64% merlot, 26% cabernet sauvignon, 7% cabernet franc and 3% petit verdot.
