A blend of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon aged nine months in a mix of barrels (10% new), amphora, and concrete, the 2023 Clos Puy Arnaud sports a deep plum hue as well as ripe black fruit, roasted herbs, chocolate, and graphite, with some obvious minerality. It's medium to full-bodied and concentrated on the palate, with a big, fleshy, layered mouthfeel and a great finish. I don't see this making terribly old bones, but it has plenty of depth and density. Drink it over the coming 7-8 years. Drink 2026-2033.

Black raspberries and forest-floor notes create the attention-grabbing perfume. Supple and fruity on the palate, with long notes of sweet, ripe cherries to finish everything off nicely. The wine blends 55% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink from 2027-2035.

Dark, layered and wonderfully vibrant in the glass, the 2023 Clos Puy Arnaud has really come together since I tasted it in barrel. The purity of the fruit is really quite striking. Some edginess in the tannin needs time to soften, but there is a lot of wine here and the potential to match.

Black beans, olives and brambleberries on the nose of this dark-fruited, chewy red. It’s medium-bodied with firm, compact tannins. Polished and a little hard for now. 50% merlot, 45% cabernet franc and 5% cabernet sauvignon. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Try from 2028.

The palate is energetic, with a liberal dose of crushed stones, and black cherries, leaving you with ample fruit, and mint in the finish. The 2023 Clos Puy Arnaud is a huge, powerful, intense wine with a ton of fruit density. This feels a bit heavy and overdone—unusually so. Dark fruit and mocha linger. We will see where this goes.

This estate has consistently enhanced its quality over the years, and 2023 marks a peak vintage at this address. The 2023 Clos Puy Arnaud possesses a fresh, dense bouquet with aromas of blueberries, violet, spices, pencil lead and licorice, followed by a medium to full-bodied, rich and dense, deep and concentrated palate framed by perfectly ripe, velvety tannins alongside bright acids that segues into a long, powerful but elegant finish. This blend of 55% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon is a real success.

A medium-bodied red with blackberry and brambleberry character. Some sea salt, too. Round, creamy tannins and a lightly chewy finish. Solid young red for this appellation. From organically grown grapes.
