Attractive plum, black currant and blackberry fruit intermixed with damp foresty floor notes emerge from this medium-bodied, complex, well-endowed 2011 St.-Emilion. This well-made wine should provide considerable pleasure over the next 10-12 years.

Delivers a hefty ganache and toasted mesquite frame, with a core of dark plum, fig and blackberry fruit. The thick-textured, toasty finish is a touch heavy-handed, but the ample core of fruit is worth gambling on. Best from 2015 through 2021.

Two separate tastings were disappointing for this fabulous terroir, which has a south/southwest facing, limestone-based soil near two St.-Emilion first growths, Belair-Monange and Magdelaine. Yields were 32 hectoliters per hectare, the final blend was 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc and the natural alcohol was 14%. The wine seems somewhat superficial, even hollow, displaying lots of minerality, but no real fruit, charm or density. Perhaps I caught it at the end of malolactic, or it’s just going through an unflattering stage of development.

Fine style with a jolly texture and tannins. It shows good length and freshness and its limestone plateau terroir is evident. Continues the recent progress. Drink 2017-2025.

The nose is rather subdued at the moment with dusky blackberry and woody aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with noticeable oak and a rather drying, mouth puckering finish. Tasted April 2012

This is juicy and attractive with polished yet chewy tannins, rich fruit and a mineral, milk chocolate and berry aftertaste. Excellent. Small property in the heart of the best area of St. Emilion.
