Le Clos Lunelles, une propriété pleine de promesse.

Après une première vie dans la grande distribution, Gérard Perse décide dans les années 90 d’assouvir sa passion pour la vigne et le vin. Son avenir s'écrit donc à Saint-Emilion, sa terre de prédilection. Il y fait l'acquisition des Châteaux Pavie, 1er grand cru classé “A” de Saint-Emilion, Pavie-Decesse, Monbousquet, Bellevue-Mondotte grands crus classés de Saint-Emilion et en suivant Clos Lunelles en Castillon, Côtes de Bordeaux.

Achetée en 2001, cette propriété de 9 hectares est située sur un plateau de Saint Colombe, point culminant de l'appellation Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, dans le prolongement du plateau calcaire de Saint-Emilion dont il partage les caractéristiques.
Lors de son rachat, la famille Perse décide de miser sur l'appellation Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, injustement méconnue et pleine de promesse. Depuis, le domaine bénéficie de l'exigence et de l'expertise de la famille Perse et de ses équipes de sorte à révèler tout son potentiel.

There was no frost in the vineyard in 2017, due to its elevation. Composed of 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2017 Clos les Lunelles is deep garnet-purple in color and sails out the glass with notions of warm plums, blueberry pie and mulberries plus hints of charcuterie, bouquet garni and charcoal. Medium-bodied, the palate has fantastic freshness with vibrant, crunchy black and blue fruits coating the mouth, finishing with a pleasant bit of chewiness. Drinking Window : 2020 - 2034. 91+

The 201 Clos Lunelles is rich, boisterous and super-expressive. Dark red/purplish berry fruit, plum, rose petals, lavender and spice infuse the 2017 with striking aromatic accents to play off the pliant fruit. Beams of saline from the Cabernets give the wine energy and cut. The 2017 is all class.

This is very direct with super firm tannins that are focused and attractive. Medium to full body. Very fine tannins that last a very long time. Chalk and salt undertones. Flavorful finish. Drink now or hold.

From higher elevation parcels that weren’t affected by the frost, the 2017 Clos Lunelles is a Merlot-dominated cuvée blended with 10% each of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. This inky-colored effort offers impressive amounts of sweet black raspberry fruits and crushed flowers, lots of salty minerality, medium-bodied richness, and outstanding purity and elegance. It’s the real deal and a smoking good Côtes de Castillon.

The 2017 Clos Lunelles is superb. Dense, pliant and hugely inviting, the 2017 captures the richness and freshness of the year. Succulent dark cherry, plum, lavender, mint and rose petal are all pushed forward. Racy and alluring, the 2017 is terrific. Don’t miss it. The 2017 is a fabulous edition of Clos Lunelles.

Dark plums, flowers and boysenberry are the opening before moving on to the luscious, sweet, ripe, juicy, plummy fruit. This is surprisingly rich for the vintage. The wine was made from blending 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc.

The 2017 Clos Lunelles, from Côtes de Castillon on the limestone plateau at 95m in altitude, is matured in 50% new oak. It has a rich and quite opulent bouquet with plush blackberry and raspberry coulis scent, a little monochromatic compared to its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded tannin, a fine line of acidity, less opulent than the aromatics with a harmonious finish that suggests this may well pull together after it has completed its barrel maturation. Let’s see.

Blended of 80% Merlot with 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2017 Clos les Lunelles is very deep purple-black in color with a nose of crushed blackcurrants, warm black plums, potpourri and spice cake with hints of cigar box and incense. Full-bodied, rich and with great intensity, it has firm, grainy tannins and lovely freshness, finishing with great length.
