A very fine-tannined red with currant, berry, violet and dried orange peel. Medium body, firm tannins and a linear finish. Very fine and pretty. This will age nicely. 80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc.

Always one of my favorite wines from the Garcin family, the 2021 Clos L'Eglise is beautiful stuff that brings ample richness and depth as well as plenty of classic Pomerol sexiness. Lots of ripe berry fruits, chocolate, chalky minerality and tobacco notes define the bouquet at this young stage, and it's medium-bodied, with a round, layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It doesn't have the mid-palate density or opulence of the 2020 (or 2018), but it's a remarkable, elegant, beautiful Pomerol that will have two decades of longevity.

The 2021 Clos l'Eglise is made from 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, aged in 60-70% new oak. Deep garnet-purple colored, it storms out of the glass with a serious nose of ripe black plums, tar, and tilled soil, leading to suggestions of black truffles, graphite, and cracked pepper. Medium-bodied, the palate delivers a firm structure of firm, grainy tannins and just enough freshness, framing the muscular black fruits, finishing earthy.

Deeply colored, the wine is plush, soft, round and rich, with a silky, plummy, chocolate and wet earth character. The wine is richly-textured, elegant, deep and fresh, with a black cherry, licorice, cocoa infused finish that feels just great on your palate. The wine blends 80% Merlot with 20% Cabernet Franc. 13.5% ABV. The harvest took place September 27 - September 30. Drink from 2024-2045. 93-95

The 2021 Clos l'Eglise is a dense, powerful Pomerol. There's real energy driving the red/purplish fruit, lavender and spice. Far from an easygoing Pomerol, Clos l'Eglise is going to need time to be at its best, but there's no rush. The 2021 is a bit compact, and yet all the elements are there for it to develop into a very fine, compelling wine.

80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. Offene Nase, Kräuterwürze, ein Hauch Leder, darunter reife Pflaumenfrucht und etwas Tabak. Im Gaumen straff, zeigt einiges an Konzentration, die Tannine sind etwas flockig, kämpfen mit der Frucht um Vorherrschaft, der Wein strahlt eine gewisse Wärme aus, hat jedoch ein kühles Rückgrat, ist irgendwo zwischen diesen beiden Welten. Im Abgang mit sehr guter Länge. Eindrücklich. 2027-2045+ (Verkostet im April 2022. Château Barde-Haut)

Bel éclat aromatique avec des notes de fruits noirs, de violette, d'iris, de mure et de cassis. Bouche charnue, des tanins assez fermes, de la puissance ainsi que de belles notes de réglisse et de graphite. Les tanins se fondront avec les élevages pour un vin au beau potentiel. 92-94+

The fleshiest, most dramatic wine in the Garçin-Léveque portfolio is the 2021 Clos l'Eglise, a medium to full-bodied, broad and velvety Pomerol that evokes notions of sweet cherries, berries, plums, raw cocoa and petals. Layered and seamless, it's derived from a 5.98-hectare vineyard opposite Eglise-Clinet that's planted with 80% Merlot, the balance Cabernet Franc.
