Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Clos de Bouärd opens with cedar and spice box notes giving way to a core of kirsch, blackberry compote and tar. Medium-bodied, the palate has a firm, sturdy frame with a good amount of black fruit preserves and a bit of chew to the finish. Drinking Window : 2020 - 2030

Freshly cut cedar on the nose here with quite a rich palate that has plenty of oak, sitting across red plums and berries. Drink or hold.

Made by Coralie de Boüard, the 2017 Château Clos de Boüard is Merlot-dominated cuvée that has a fair amount of Cabernet Franc as well as some Cabernet Sauvignon. It's a fresh, lively barrel sample that has lots of spice, underbrush, dried herbs, and mineral notes, medium-bodied, richness, and a straight, focused, firm style. It's nicely balanced, has solid mid-palate depth and plenty of length.

Nez assez solaire, riche, sur le goudron, encore peu diversifié mais complet, qui précède une bouche très charnue, le tanin est travaillé, la trame enrobée, c’est ambitieux mais plutôt bien exécuté.

The 2017 Clos de Boüard, is made by Coralie de Boüard from vines in the commune of Parsac. Though, there are plantings of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, this year it is pure Merlot because of the frost. It feels quite closed on the nose and demands coaxing, eventually unfurling to reveal blackberry, raspberry and crushed chalky aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit. There is commendable freshness here, nicely balanced with a plump and lightly spiced finish.

The 2017 Clos de Bouärd is medium to deep garnet-purple with a very pretty nose of crushed red currants, black cherries and rose hips with suggestions of fenugreek, cinnamon toast and baker’s chocolate. The palate is medium-bodied with a chewy frame and plenty of expressive red and black berry flavors, finishing spicy.
