The 2013 Clémentin de Pape Clément is laced with dark cherry, game, plum, smoke and dark spices. A rich, textured wine for the year, the 2013 Clémentin is a great example of the strength of the appellation in this very tricky vintage. Smoke, game and earthy notes reappear on the textured, suave finish. Tasted three times.

The second wine from Pape-Clement has a respectable, earthy bouquet with brambly black fruit and a touch of violet that opens nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a spicy opening before easing back towards a gently grippy, iodine tinged finish. Fine.
