Belle distinction aromatique sur ce vin. Entrée en bouche caressante. Très jolie évolution, stylée, articulée sur une fine trame tannique. Finale douce, d'une belle tenue.

Licorice, smoke, flowers and cherry aromatics are right there when you want them. Medium bodied, silky and juicy, the red fruits are ripe, pure, polished and fresh.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 La Tour Figeac starts off a little shy, giving way to bright, vibrant scents of crushed black and red cherries, warm plums and wild blueberries with hints of violets, licorice, woodsmoke and garrigue. Full-bodied, it has a good amount of understated blue and black fruit in the mouth with rounded tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with red fruit sparks.

A finely perfumed wine, this is rich in tannins that are smoothed by the wood aging. It is elegant in a spice tone and a dry core of tannins, balanced by blackberry flavors and fine acidity at the end.

Firm, rich and ripe fruit appears on the silky-textured attack. The tannins bristle through the mid-palate before the alcohol takes over to the point that you can barely see round it. It's gourmet for sure, powerful too, but it pulls up cleverly on the finish to avoid overdoing things. I tasted this on several occasions and noted each time that this stops just short of being too powerful. Owned by Otto Rettenmaier, this estate is already planted to a high 33% Cabernet Franc, with plans to increase it to 39% by 2022. 50% new oak.

A fine and polished wine from here with a lovely center palate of ripe fruit and hints of chocolate and pretty hazelnuts. Medium to full body.
