Vinous

The 2018 Larrivaux, which fortunately did not suffer any mildew, comes from a vineyard that is currently undergoing replanting on mainly limestone bedrock with Right Bank soils. It has an earthy bouquet with touches of mint and undergrowth; it seems just a little sullen at the moment, although I suspect it will show more brightness after racking. The palate is rounded and voluminous thanks to the 64% Merlot, the wood (20% new) is in sync with the fruit, and just a touch of Indian spice appears toward the pleasing finish.
