Le vin se montre tendre et fin. Il affiche aussi une élégante profondeur. Dans l'esprit raffiné privilegié par le château. Ses tannins sont jolis en finale.

Tasted single blind at Southwold. This has good fruit concentration on the nose: blackberry, bilberry and a touch of hot bricks. Nice definition and lift. This has sensuous, lithe tannins, sharp acidity and a touch of liquorices. I like the breadth of this wine, but it cuts off a little short. But I like its unpretentious, natural style. Drink 2010-2020. Tasted January 2009.

Bright ruby-red. Medicinal black cherry and licorice on the nose; this smells serious. Densely packed and firmly built, with juicy acidity and notes of licorice and herbs contributing to the wine's medicinal quality. Seems a bit heavily extracted and rather tannic, but there's good material here. I'd hold this for seven or eight years. 87(+?)

Quite heady and a little angular. Chewy tannins on the finish. Needs time but tastes as though it doesn't quite have the stuffing of fruit to outlast the slightly rasping tannins. Very drying finish.

Aromas of currants and spices, with hints of earth. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a medium finish. Very good, but clearly not 2000. —J.S.
