Le Point 14-14,5 / 20 par Jacques Dupont le 20/06/2018 Cerise, mûre, un peu sauvage, savoureux, ronce, élevage équilibré, bois blond, finale un peu astringente, bon fond de vin.
Vinous 88-91 / 100 par Antonio Galloni le 15/05/2018 The 2017 La Croix St. Georges is deep, pliant and creamy, with tons of textural richness. The dark red plum, mocha, spice and new leather flavors are all given an extra kick of voluptuousness in 2017. Sweet floral notes add brightness on the finish. This is an especially succulent style, but it works well.
The Wine Cellar Insider 89-91 / 100 par Jeff Leve le 11/05/2018 Floral vanilla and ripe cherries arrive immediately, followed by a mid palate crush of round-textured plum and licorice. The finish is juicy with calm, cushy tannins. Give this seven to eight years for the oak to integrate and it will be even better. The wine was produced from blending 95.5% Merlot and 4.5% Cabernet Franc, reaching 13.5% alcohol.
Vinous 88-90 / 100 par Neal Martin le 01/05/2018 The 2017 La Croix St. Georges has a very floral bouquet with violets accompanying the cassis and black cherry fruit. This is quite “full on” for the vintage but there is modest delineation and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with noticeable wood tannins straight from the start. The dominating clusters on the finish leave the mouth demanding more fruité and flesh. It’s just a wine where I want to see more restraint and prudence.
