Wine Advocate
par Robert Parker le 30/06/1992
Few St.-Emilion estates have equaled the consistently high performance of Canon over the decade of the eighties, but their 1990 is not up to the quality of this estate's top wines, such as the 1989, 1986, 1985, 1983, and 1982. Powerful and backward, it displays astringent tannins, as well as a tough-textured personality. Offering a vivid purity of black-raspberry fruit intertwined with aromas and flavors of coffee and chocolate, this tannic, medium-bodied wine will require a considerable investment in patience, but it lacks the requisite inner core of fruit, extract, and glycerin necessary to be outstanding. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2025.
