This balanced wine shows fine potential. Its structure dominates at the moment, with solid tannins, but the rich black fruit is all there. Let it develop over the next several years and drink from 2021.

Nez sur la cerise, les fruits mûrs, profil précis et très séducteur. Entrée en bouche sur une fraîcheur fruitée. Belle densité séveuse avec beaucoup de continuité en bouche et une trame parfaitement ajustée et une finale d’une belle persistance.

Purity with silky tannins and incredibly sweet, ripe, dark, red fruits to begin, you'll find licorice and just a hint of dark chocolate on the back end. This wine has concentration and energy and gives us insight into the kind of wine that can be realized in the Cotes de Bordeaux.

The 2015 Chateau d'Aiguilhe is a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, picked between September 23 and October 8 at 30 hectoliters per hectare, and matured in 30% new oak barrels. It has a very ripe and opulent, quite showing bouquet with fig and date-tinged red berry fruit. The palate is very well balanced, a supple ball of red cherry and strawberry fruit, with a touch of Christmas cake and allspice towards the finish; the Cabernet Franc imparts a little edginess, with a saline tincture lingering on the aftertaste. This is a very fine Côtes de Castillon from Comtes Von Neipperg. Drink 2018 - 2028

Ripe, fragrant aromatics. Power but opulence and finesse as well. Fine, fresh grain of tannin and a persistent finish. One of the best yet from this Von Neipperg-owned (Canon-la-Gaffelière) estate. 2021-2030

A huge wine, the 2015 d'Aiguilhe is endowed with serious intensity and richness. Waves of dark red fruit, plum, menthol and licorice flesh out in the glass. Hints of white pepper and chalk add an attractive upper register, but in 2015, Aiguilhe is mostly about texture and intensity, both of which it has in spades. Tasted three times.

Sattes Purpur-Granat, dicht in der Mitte, lila Schimmer aussen. Deutlich mineralisch, fast nur schwarzbeerig, zeigt sogar gewisse Rauchkonturen, dahinter getrocknete Heidelbeeren. Mir schien er noch nie so tiefgründig. Im Gaumen mit einer gewisse, muskulöse Strenge, die kommt aber von seiner beeindruckenden Konzentration, massive Tannine die nicht nur Spass bereiten in der Jugend, dafür hat er aber eine markante Reserve. In 10 Jahren ein überaus spannender Castillon. 17/20 2024 – 2037

Features lush fruit, with creamy-edged plum, raspberry and blackberry flavors that glide along. There’s depth here, but this is rounded and fresh in feel, with lovely purity.—J.M.
