Exotic red and black berry fruits, flowers, sappy herbs, and iris nuances all emerge from the 2023 Chasse-Spleen, a classic, satisfying Moulis that has plenty to like. Based on 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot, and 3% Cabernet Franc and aged 12 months in barrel, it's medium-bodied and has a nicely balanced, juicy mouthfeel, plenty of tannins, and a good finish. This classic, nicely balanced, and structured 2023 is going to benefit from just a few years of bottle age and keep nicely for 15 years. Drink 2028-2043.

The 2023 Chasse-Spleen is terrific. Aromatic, medium in body and nuanced, the 2023 packs quite a bit of intensity into its mid-weight frame. Floral and savory top notes cut through a core of brilliant red-toned fruit. Brisk acids that pull it all together on the finish. This is beautifully done.

The 2023 Chasse-Spleen has a very promising bouquet that is well-defined with black fruit, cedar and tobacco scents, less floral than it showed from barrel. The palate is medium-bodied with black fruit, black pepper and tobacco notes, just tapering away marginally toward the finish. But there is freshness here, and it should age well in bottle.

The palate is medium-bodied, chiseled and elegant, with a delicate yet consistent thread of fruit and focused tannins. 57% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot, 10% petit verdot and 3% cabernet franc. Approachable now with aeration and food. A lovely expression. Drink now or hold.

Chasse-Spleen bewirtschaftet insgesamt 80ha Weinberge und produziert jährlich etwa 350.000 Flaschen. Die Böden des Weinbergs bestehen aus Garonne-Kies und kalkhaltigen Substraten mit Asterien. Die Weinbereitung erfolgt in Edelstahl- und Zementtanks, gefolgt von einer 12- bis 16-monatigen Reifung in Barriques, von denen 40% neu sind. Subtiles Bouquet mit Nuancen von Süßholz und dunklen Beeren, ergänzt durch einen Hauch von Zedernholz. Der Wein hat eine gute Dichte und wird von eleganten Tanninen und einer erfrischenden Säure getragen, die Temperament und Präzision bilden. Ein harmonischer, anhaltender, überzeugender Wein und sicherlich einer der besten Leistungen dieses Weinguts seit langer Zeit!

Sappy herbs, flowers, cedar, smoke, and a more red-fruited profile all define the 2023 Château Chasse-Spleen, a medium-bodied, juicy, focused, borderline lean Moulis. It should round into shape over the course of its élevage and drink nicely for 4-6 years, possibly longer.

The 2023 Chasse-Spleen is a very pretty, aromatic Moulis. Crushed flowers, sweet red-toned fruit, chalk, mint and white pepper are all nicely lifted in this mid-weight offering Bright acids lend freshness to play off the mid-weight structure.

The 2023 Chasse-Spleen takes time to open on the nose, gradually revealing raspberry and blackcurrant scents, touches of rose petals and freshly rolled tobacco. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins, adequate freshness and a marine-tinged finish—almost Pauillac-like in style. This is quite a stylish if almost “old-school" Chasse-Spleen that should develop well in bottle.
