This is a lively, citrus-themed wine with a more controlled and less aggressive palate than many, and I think this is because the oak is well-judged, and the fruit is not too extreme. It will need a couple of years to soften because the acidity is rather raucous, but the overall experience is certainly admirable. 17

The clear structure, fresh acidity and round body together create a textbook standard dry white of Pessac-Léognan. On the palate, it presents the freshness and sweetness like sugary pineapples. Flowing through your tongue, it presents some gentle mineral notes, with fresh fragrances of grapefruit and sophora flower going along. The 2021 Carbonnieux Blanc has a relatively spicy bouquet, very slight touches of muscat filtering through the citric fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a spicy entry and good weight. Persistent in the mouth, leaving behind a long, saline aftertaste. This is another excellent dry white Bordeaux.

Helles Gelb. Die Nase ist feinduftig und leicht rauchig, florale Töne, Zitrusfrüchte, Kräuter. Im Gaumen gut strukturiert, saftig, frisch, die Frucht ist knackig, die Säure top, das hat Rasse und Zug, endet angenehm langanhaltend und mit feiner Würze. Notions of citrus zest, fresh mint, peach, pastry cream and Sauvignon botanicals introduce the 2021 Carbonnieux Blanc, a medium-bodied, satiny wine that's ample and precise. It's an attractive example of the modern school of white Bordeaux, even if anyone who has tasted older vintages from the 1960s or 1970s—when the wines were less Sauvignon-driven and aromatic but more textural and sapid—will inevitably be disappointed.

Mouthwatering and vibrant, zingy and intense on the palate with the shot of lemon and lime juice, creamy peach and apricot and touch of spiced vanilla on the finish. Long and satisfying still with energy and precision all the way through.
