Wine Advocate 85 / 100 byLisa Perrotti-Brownthe11/30/2018 The 2016 Le Petit Caillou is medium to deep garnet-purple colored with plums, earth, kirsch and blackberries on the nose and waft of underbrush. The medium-bodied palate is soft, juicy and innocuous.
Wine Advocate 83-85 / 100 byNeal Martinthe5/2/2017 The 2016 Le Petit Caillou has a simple, black cherry and cassis-scented bouquet that was showing just a little too much volatile acidity on the sample that I tasted. The palate is better with saturated tannin, good depth if missing some complexity and detail on the monotone finish. Drink over the next four or five years.
Wine Enthusiast 87-89 / 100 byRoger Vossthe4/19/2017 Barrel Sample. This is made from the young vines of the Borie properties in Saint-Julien. It is sophisticated and ripe, with attractive juiciness and red cherry fruit. This is a wine that has much of the style of appellation without great structure or density.
