The 2016 Lacoste-Borie is a blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, cropped at 50 hectoliters per hectare. It has a clean and precise bouquet, not as complex as some of its peers, yet with thoroughly enjoyable raspberry and blackcurrant leaf tinged with cedar. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy, slightly dry tannin on the entry, hints of dark chocolate interlacing the black fruit with a touch of cracked black pepper on the finish.

Forward in style, there are spicy cassis aromas, soft, round textures and a sweet, fruitiness mid-palate making this an easy drinking, delicious and uncomplicated wine.

The Lacoste-Borie 2016 is soft, pliant and inviting. This attractive midweight Pauillac will drink well with minimal cellaring. There is lovely purity and depth to the dark berry, chocolate and spice flavors, even if the wine is a bit slender in construction. Tasted two times.

This is a beautifully fresh wine with lovely, juicy black cassis flavours. The day-night temperature changes of up to 20 degrees centigrade made a huge difference to the quality of the tannins, and GPL has some of the steepest slopes and best draining soils in Pauillac to cope with the wet early season (although this also meant some blockage of young vines during the drought). Overall they have produced a plush, easy drinking wine that offers great pleasure. 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, with a yield of 50hl/ha. Drinking Window 2025 - 2040

(61 Cabernet Sauvignon, 29 Merlot, 10 Cabernet Franc) | 50% new oak | 13.2% alc. The nose is just perfect with bright blackberry juice notes and sensational pencil shavings - so classic. The mid-palate is smooth and polished with ripe fruit breaking through the whole with very attractive oak and also lovely amplitude. The finish is crunchy and refreshing with perfectly clean tannins and a snap of gravelly freshness. A sublime Lacoste-Bo- rie with perfect balance and disarming immediacy, this is a wine which will sit alongside all of the First Wines in this commune with ease. 17.5
