The 2016 Le II de Saint-Pierre, 100% Merlot, is a powerful, broad wine. Dark tonalites of fruit, leather, chocolate, smoke, cedar and beams of tannin convey an impression of rusticity. Ultimately, the 2016 is a bit burly and rough around the edges. Even so, it is pleasing in its own way. This is a solid second wine from Saint-Pierre. Frédéric Massie and Romain Bocchio consult.
