A chewy and structured wine with currant and cherry character. Medium to full body and a fresh finish. Lovely citrus undertones with some iodine. Try in 2020.

Dark cherry, plum, grilled herbs and smoke flesh out in the 2014 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron, a second wine that is essentially composed of the barrels that don't make it into the Grand Vin. I would prefer to drink this forward, succulent wine over the next handful of years. The blend is 55 % Cabernet Sauvignon and 45 % Merlot.

The 2014 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron, a selection of barrels that don't make it into the Grand Vin, is open, supple and quite expressive, with boisterous fruit and an inviting personality. Sweet plum, red cherry, smoke and licorice flesh out nicely in the glass. The 2014 finishes with a lovely burst of energy and saline-infused freshness. The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot.

Bright, crisp with an early display of wet earth, cedar, cassis and floral characteristics, this forward-styled Pauillac has a refined, easy drinking, fresh-picked berry appeal and it will deliver a classic tasting, cassis-filled experience on release. 88-90 Pts

The Les Griffons de Pichon Baron 2014 comes from terroir that is close to the Grand Vin in style, composed of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot that is aged in 60% new oak. It has a pretty "bud" of a nose: violets and cassis infused with cedar, nicely defined and actually quite sensual. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannin and purity. This is clearly superior to their alternative second wine, Les Tourelles. This is well worth seeking out as it should represent good value.

A pretty wine that has good intensity, dark fruits and sweet cedar notes. This new second wine of Pichon Baron is well balanced and beautifully crafted; there is more grip and intensity with greater similarity with the grand vin than Les Tourelles.

For those who seek a second wine for Pichon Baron. 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot. Younger vines. This is priced a little higher than Tourelles.
Dark crimson. Rather voluptuous nose with real class. Lovely stuff! Presumably more open than the grand vin but pretty gorgeous and satisfying with some subtlety. Look out for this! Succulent.

Grippy fruit, good florality and length, purity and freshness, More approachable than Pichon-Baron itself but a similar profile. Drink: 2018-2028 (90)

90–92. Barrel Sample. Produced from young vines at Pichon Longueville, this is a soft, fruity and rounded wine. The fine acidity melds into ripe plum and berry fruit tones. This wine will age quickly.

Very fresh and open in feel, with tasty red currant, raspberry and black cherry fruit flavors, carried by floral and sweet spice notes.
