Wine Advocate 89 / 100 byNeal Martinthe8/1/2014 Tasted at Bordeaux Index annual 10-year on tasting from an ex-château bottle. The Les Ormes de Pez 2004 offers lovely leathery red berry fruit on the nose augmented by saddle leather, over-ripe Satsuma and a touch of marmalade. The palate is medium-bodied with gently gripping tannins. This is nicely balanced, fully mature with a melted, animally and perhaps slightly bretty finish. Still, this is delicious to drink now. Tasted March 2014.
Wine Advocate 90 / 100 byNeal Martinthe2/3/2009 The nose on the commendable Ormes-de-Pez has clammed up since tasted out of barrel. Backward, taut, a little leafy with blackberry, cedar, tree bark and a touch of pain grille. Good complexity. The palate if medium-bodied with blackberry, firm tannins, rather foursquare but with superb freshness and harmony. This is a lovely, quintessential Saint Estephe. Drink 2014-2028. Tasted November 2008.
