Jamessuckling.com 91 / 100 byJames Sucklingthe2/15/2015 A chewy and fresh wine with spice, nut and currant character. Full-bodied and muscular. Needs time to soften. Better in 2017.

Asian Palate 85 / 100 byJeannie Cho Lee MWthe5/15/2013 A rounder, softer St-Estephe compared with many others in this category. The tannins are firm but ripe with moderate length. Black fruits and black tea notes dominate this wine. It needs some time in bottle to express its potential.
Wine Enthusiast 89-91 / 100 byRoger Vossthe5/1/2013 Barrel sample. This wine is marked by new-wood spice and strong structure that showcases a sense of weight and spicy ripeness. The palate is powerful, while also maintaining a bold, juicy character
Wine Spectator 87-90 / 100 byJames Molesworththe4/30/2013 Sleek, with a chalk frame holding the damson plum and black cherry fruit together. The finish shows good cut despite the lightly dusty feel. —J.M.
Wine Advocate 88-90 / 100 byNeal Martinthe4/30/2013 Tasted as a barrel sample at en primeur. Picked between 2nd and 18th October and a blend of 42% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Petit Verdot, the Meyney has a “classic” nose with brambly black fruit mixed with pencil lead and cedar that open nicely with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannins, an edgy citric seam and a slightly oaky finish that will need to integrate during its maturation. There is good substance and focus here, plus there is a pleasant salty tang lingering on the aftertaste. This should be one to watch after bottling. Tasted April 2013.
The Wine Cellar Insider 88-90 / 100 byJeff Levethe4/26/2013 Earth, forest and cassis notes shift to a medium-bodied, cassis-filled wine that should drink well young. 88-90 Pts
Wine Advocate 88-90 / 100 byRobert Parkerthe4/26/2013 This estate is quickly returning from a long period of mediocrity. This sleeper of the vintage exhibits a dense ruby/purple color in addition to copious notes of black raspberries, blueberries, loamy soil and roasted Provencal herbs. Medium to full-bodied, it should drink well for 10-12+ years.Drink: 2013 - 2025
Decanter.com 16,25 / 20 bySteven Spurrierthe4/22/2013 Dense colour, concentrated cassis nose, all the meaty richness from these well-placed vineyards and a good future. 16.25/20pts ( 87/100pts)Drink: 2016 - 2024
Jamessuckling.com 90-91 / 100 byJames Sucklingthe4/4/2013 Very well-integrated with the tannins and fruit here for the vintage. Full body with chewy tannins, but the spicy and blueberry fruit stands together with the structure. Nicely well done.
