Calvados VSOP - House Coquerel - 40 °
The house is founded in 1937 by René Gilbert. In 1941 he moved to the Manoir de Coquerel Milly, in the heart of the AOC and a stone's throw from Mont Saint-Michel. Between 1971 and 1996 the house is sold several times, including the Diageo group. But it remains all this time led by François Martin and his son Jean-François, who finally bought the company in 1996 and then expanded its presence around the world. Together they perpetuate the principles of production used formerly but with current techniques. The apple varieties are carefully selected and come only from orchards certified by INAO. The apples are washed and transported to a grater where they are crushed. The pulp obtained is sent to a press to extract the must, which ferments naturally for several months to produce a Cider. This is then distilled in a copper column still.
