An opulence of flavours and aromatics, knitted down and ready to go the distance, expect waves of squid ink, crayon and slate, alongside iris, peony, fragrant camellia blossoms. Creamy black fruits and liquorice bud emerge after 15 minutes in the glass, this will take its time to fully open, suggest a good four or five years in bottle for the precise, carved natured of the tannins to soften and fully reveal the brilliance of this wine. Once again sitting among the very best of the appellation. 82% new oak. Harvest September 10 to 14. Noëmie Durantou winemaker, 42hl/h yield.

A blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, L’Église-Clinet 2023 has a pH of 3.70. It is deep garnet-purple in color and a little shy to start off, needing some shaking to awaken notes of juicy blueberries, ripe plums, and red cherries, followed by hints of sandalwood, lavender, Sichuan pepper, and crushed rocks with a touch of black olives. Full-bodied, the palate is velvety and seductive, packed with juicy black-fruit layers and just enough freshness, finishing long and spicy. Stunning.

The Grand Vin 2023 Château L'Eglise Clinet checks in as 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc that was raised in 82% new French oak. Deep purple-hued, it offers a sensational perfume of ripe black cherries, plums, smoke, tobacco, and chocolate, with some classic Pomerol damp earth and graphite. It's full-bodied on the palate, with a deep, layered mouthfeel, background oak, and a gorgeous finish. This is a heavenly, rich, layered, ultra-classic expression of this château. Don't miss it! It deserves a decade of bottle age and will cruise for 30-40 years. Drink 2034-2064.

Everything you could ever want in a great Pomerol is here in abundance. From start to finish, this is exceptional! The showy perfume begins with a floral note before revealing its red fruit, along with black pit fruit, truffles, dark chocolate, and a touch of espresso. The stunning palate seals the deal, offering opulence, vibrancy, concentration, purity of fruit, and a sensual, velvety finish that, once it starts, doesn't want to stop! Made from a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, it's fantastic to see continued excellence from the Durantou family. Drink from 2029-2060.

Rich, layered and dynamic in the glass, the 2023 L'Eglise-Clinet is outrageously beautiful. Inky red/purplish fruit, spice, blood orange, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco open in the glass. The 2023 shows terrific finesse. It's a wine of tremendous power and reserve, with soaring aromatics, mind-blowing balance, layered depth, boundless energy and a real sense of tension.

The 2023 L'Eglise-Clinet was potentially one of the wines of the vintage after its sublime performance from barrel. Now in bottle since May after maturation in 82% new oak, it has a seamless bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit, veins of blue fruit mixed with violet and iris petal, hints of black truffle emerging with time. The palate delivers with that intense, quite mineral-driven smorgasbord of red fruit that gently grip the palate. Wonderful backbone, very precise with a sustained finish, this is a brilliant L'Eglise-Clinet from Noëmie Durantou that should give 30 to 40 years' drinking pleasure.

Profound violet aromas with hints of ash and crushed stones, alongside mussel shells, purple fruit and iodine. Medium- to full-bodied, showing plush, silky texture and a length and depth that go on and on. So caressing. The density of fruit is really something, taking you into the soul of the wine. The harmonious balance leaves you satisfied and thoughtful. 90% merlot and 10% cabernet franc. Best after 2029 but already a joy to taste. Drink or hold.

Floral and darkly fruited nose, blackcurrant pastilles, rosemary, violet, black cherry. A dark core, ripe and heady, filled with chalky tannins. Reserved, almost understated but confident, with so much layering, this is profound in a really quiet, contemplative way. Great structure and concentration, nothing overt. Will be amazing in time, with a very long life ahead. Just grows and grows as it breaths, adding depth, complexity and power, the tannins becoming more chewy and pillowy. So real and raw, quite honestly amazing: a wine that touches your soul.

The Grand Vin 2023 Château L'Eglise Clinet checks in as 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc that's resting in 82% new barrels. It brings another level of density as well as purity, with fabulous notes of cassis, ripe black cherries, chocolate, smoked tobacco, iron, and spice, as well as a kiss of background graphite. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated, yet very much in the vibrant, fresh, classic style of the vintage, it has ripe tannins and a gorgeous finish. It shines on all accounts, offering beautiful purity and complexity and plenty of richness, and it should have a broad, lengthy drink window.
